Once situated in the basement of an old factory, Liquid-Studio moved to its current location at Haslacherstra\u00dfe 25 in Freiburg in 2010. From the get-go the room was meant to be both a studio and a club and it was built and optimized for both its purposes.<\/p>\n

Great recordings need a big space. Because of the fact that said space is usually underused in everyday studio life, Liquid-Studio doubles as a club, the Slow Club. Feeling the need to give Freiburg’s subculture a new home and focal point, Slow Club e.V.<\/a>, a non-commercial foundation, was established. The club becomes the studio, the stage becomes the vocal booth, the amps can be put into the separ\u00e9 and the storage rooms and \u2013 discretely hidden behind the stage \u2013 there’s the control room.<\/p>\n

Markus Heinzel<\/strong> has decades of experience as a sound engineer for live-events and studio recordings as well as a music producer. He is a graduate of the Mastering Academy Hamburg<\/a> and a certified Apple Mastering Engineer. With his band BAR<\/a>, fka Liquid Laughter Lounge Quartet<\/a>, he toured all over Europe and released several albums. With BAR he had the musical direction for the production ‘Factory<\/a>‘ (season 2018\/19, revival 2019\/20) and Was ihr wollt<\/a> (season 2022\/23) at Theater Freiburg<\/a>. Due to its deep impact on Freiburg’s cultural scene, BAR was awarded the Reinhold-Schneider-Preis, Freiburg’s prize for cultural achievements, in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Slow Club<\/a> he founded was voted Germany’s best live club in 2020 at the Backstage Club Awards<\/a> and received the highest-endowed federal cultural prize APPLAUS<\/a> from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) in 2022.<\/p>\n
